Elliott Goes to Ikea, Again

Elliott (and Tracy) took another trip to Ikea this weekend. This was more of a family reunion than a shopping trip though. Elliott got to meet his great-grandmother (my maternal grandmother) and hang out some with his mom-mom and pop-pop too.

Swimming

I took Elliott to a pool for the first time last week. Our friends joined a swim club near their house and graciously invited us to come.

He was a little startled by the water at first, but eventually enjoyed, er, tolerated being in the pool.

Trip to Columbus

Elliott and I had the pleasure of visiting his great-grandparents in Columbus this week. Opal and Freelin (Tim's paternal grandparents) just love Elliott and had so much fun playing with him. We also found out that Elliott is fond of watermelon. Last week I bought him an infant feeder. So far he hadn't wanted anything to do with it. But in Kroger yesterday, I took a free watermelon sample and put in it the feeder. He loved it. We had to put another chunk in before we left the store and he cried while we were reloading it. I also think it taught him how to chew, because now he will just move his mouth in a chewing motion. Maybe we can catch that on video sometime soon.

Here are some pictures from our time in Columbus:

Little Killer

OK, so maybe he's not quite Jerry Lee Lewis (hopefully in more ways than one) but he does have some skills for not even being six months old yet. He also appears to be quite the showman, waiting for the applause before getting the show going again.

Thanks to Tracy's friends at the DBJ for getting him the piano. I guess I can take credit for passing on the musical ability. And by musical ability, I mean he is now able to play piano as good as I do.

Next up is Elliott and I heading to New York to recreate the scene from Big where we dance on the giant piano.

Roadtrip to Ikea

We loaded the clan into the car on Saturday and headed down to Ikea. This was our first trip, and something that Tracy has been dying to do for quite a while. We managed to see most of the store, but didn't do the Swedish meatballs, almond cake, or anything with ligonberries. We did get potato chips though.

The best part was getting to use Elliott as a prop in a variety of Ikea settings. Elliott in a bin of toys, Elliott in a tiny bed, Elliott in a $19 high chair, Elliott getting attacked by a stuffed alligator. In spite of driving 40 minutes (with Elliott screaming for 20 of those minutes) we came away with just a pair of bibs, a cutting board, and batteries. But don't worry, we will be back to further the Swedish economy by getting some furniture next time.

Social boy

Elliott loves other kids. He grabs for any child he's near, smiles, squeals with delight and waves his hands furiously toward them.
Here he is with his friend Luke today at the park.
